Management Team
The management team at Data393 is comprised of a number of Internet, high tech and telecommunications veterans experienced in building technology-driven product and services companies.
Brett Jones - General Manager
As General Manager of Data393, Brett Jones is responsible for providing Data393’s strategic leadership while guiding the day to day operations of a complex data center environment.
Before joining Data393, Brett was General Manager - Western Region for Globix Corporation, a publicly traded provider of hosting, managed services, IP infrastructure and management services for enterprise and carrier markets. His guidance lead the Western Region to consistently perform above expectations increasing revenue, customer satisfaction and employee retention. Previously, Brett also held high level management positions at Exodus Communications, Digex and MCI Telecommunications.
Brett holds a B.S in Education from the University of Colorado – Boulder.
Joan Stoneking, CPA - Controller
Joan Stoneking is responsible for finance, accounting, and administration at Data393.
Joan began her career in 1988 with the Denver office of KPMG. Following her time at KPMG, she worked at a variety of small and medium-size companies. In 1999, Joan moved into consulting for small businesses, in her own practice. After working closely with the management team at Data393 for several months, Joan decided to join Data393 as Controller in September 2004.
Joan holds a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming, and has been a CPA in Colorado since 1991.
Steve Merkel - Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer, Steve oversees the development and implementation of systems and hosting infrastructure as well as product development.
Before joining Data393, Steve was the Chief Technology Officer for Ventures Online, a premier web hosting provider that specialized in solutions for web hosting resellers. Ventures Online was acquired by Data393 in January of 2004.
Steve received his BS in Computer Science from Colorado State University. Immediately after graduating, he began work as a systems engineer for a real-time driving simulation company implementing Linux based simulators for research and educational institutions. Steve has also held technical positions with large ISP’s including AOL and CompuServe.
Chris Gross - Chief Technical Officer
As Chief Technical Officer, Chris is responsible for engineering and network infrastructure as well as product development.
Chris Gross has an extensive background in data center and service provider’s security and network infrastructure. Chris joined Data393 through the acquisition of Huge Hosting, where he was the Vice President of Technical Operations. Previously to that Chris was a Senior Network Engineer at Verado where he was responsible for as many as 8 data centers.
Corey Needles - Director of Technical Operations
As the Director of Technical Operations, Corey is responsible for the day to day operation of the data centers. This includes the monitoring of the customer and corporate systems as well as data center provisioning at the physical layer. He is also responsible for the management and security of the facilities and each of the Data393 data centers.
With over nine years in the industry, Corey has a great deal of experience in both NOC and data center environments. Some of his previous employers include: Gambro Healthcare, Relera, and Quark.
Corey also has a deep background in Network and Enterprise Management solutions.
Bryan Walsh - Director of Sales
Bryan is a 10+ year sales veteran in the IT and telecommunications product and services industry’s. He has spent time as a sales executive at Lucent Technologies, AVAYA Communications and comes to Data393 after spending time in Silicon Valley selling complex data storage solutions for IBM’s leading Storage VAR. Bryan came to Data393 in January of 2005 and took over managing and directing the sales force in 2006. He has influenced Data393’s growth by directing a solution based selling methodology and reinforcing a consultative sales approach to the sales staff.
Bryan Walsh is a Colorado native and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colorado State University; he is actively involved as an Alumnus to several student organizations as well as several non-profit & charitable organizations.
Jennifer McConnell - Director of Client Services
With over 10 years of Customer Service and Technical management experience in the Internet industry, Jennifer leads the Client Services division for Data393. This division oversees the customer service and marketing responsibilities for the data center.
Jennifer joined Data393 in 2004 through the acquisition of Huge Hosting. Prior to Huge Hosting, Jennifer was with AT&T Broadband where she spent time in Customer Service and Technical Support management and as a National Technical Trainer for AT&T's High Speed Internet product.
